Collaborations

The Vermont Jazz Center has been promoting creativity and supporting the local creative economy via jazz and improvisation for decades. Through collaborations with our neighbors, VJC is part of an arts culture that nourishes our area and is one of the reasons why Brattleboro has been recognized by Smithsonian Magazine as one of the “best small towns” in the US.

In recent years, the Vermont Jazz Center has collaborated with the following businesses, schools and arts organizations:
Strolling of the Heifers, Yellow Barn Music School, Brattleboro Union High School, Brattleboro Area Middle School, Kurn Hattin Schools, Northfield Mt. Hermon School, New England Jazz Alliance, Windham County Heat Fund, Amherst College, University of Vermont, Community Music School of Springfield, Mass., Thompson House, Brattleboro Development Credit Corporation, Essex High School, Leland and Gray Union Middle and High School, Southern Vermont Young Professionals, The Lounge (at Duo), Next Stage, Brattleboro Music Center, Brattleboro Museum and Arts Center, Green Mountain Academy for Lifelong Learning, Cheshire Correctional Facility, Southern State Correctional Facility, and The Bradley House.

“I was thrilled to have the opportunity for our students to work with accomplished jazz musicians at Kurn Hattin. It was a joy and pleasure to see our students interact and want to take what they learned during the workshop back to class and put the effort into playing jazz music. This workshop was what we needed to help our music program move forward with improvisation. Thank you for this great musical event that was appreciated and loved by all students and staff.”
