Jazz in the Community

The Vermont Jazz Center has enhanced the local community since the early 1970s when Attila Zoller chose southern Vermont as a refuge from his bustling life in New York City. Community involvement is at the forefront of the VJC’s mission.

This is the VJC’s mission, and it is accomplished through a three-pronged approach:

  1.   Performance: bringing top-level jazz artists to a rural community to provide uplifting and diverse cultural opportunities
  2.   Education: providing numerous options for hands-on jazz learning including a weekly jam session
  3.   Outreach: bringing music, information and joy to schools, assisted living homes and prisons; connecting with area businesses and arts and service organizations. The VJC thrives on collaborations that benefit the community.
