VJC’s 2023-2024 Annual Appeal

The Vermont Jazz Center is a registered non-profit 501c-3 corporation. Your contribution is 100% tax deductible.

Dear Vermont Jazz Center Friends,

During these difficult times we need the arts more than ever. Not as an escape from reality but as a means to celebrate beauty, to create healing environments, and to give voice to artists and community members.

For almost five decades the Vermont Jazz Center’s mission has been to provide a safe, supportive place where access to the arts is direct, high-quality and affordable. People of all generations gather here to play music in ensembles, jam sessions, classes and workshops, or attend performances by renowned artists. The music that is created and performed here is a vital bridge to a venerable legacy that exposes rural populations to skill sets, messages and grooves that are otherwise unavailable. This is especially true for younger participants who attend our programs at subsidized rates.

In June 2023 the VJC was recognized by the Vermont Legislature in a proclamation that recognized our leadership in arts and education throughout the state. In 2022 we received the Ellen McCulloch-Lovell Arts Education Award issued by the Vermont Arts Council.  These honors fill us with gratitude and give us reason to appreciate even more the circle of friends who have made this possible. This includes you, our valued audience, generous donors, wonderful board members, volunteers and staff.

The power and value of music has become increasingly clear to me. Each time I venture onto the bandstand or work with our youth jazz ensembles, I personally experience the solidarity of community and the healing power of the music. I know I am not alone.

Our team here at the Jazz Center is honored to do our part to facilitate these experiences. Your contributions will help us continue to provide world-class performances and educational opportunities to audiences in rural Vermont and around the world.

Please give generously so that we can continue our mission of uplifting spirits through music.

Sincerely,
Eugene Uman, Director

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
