Come play Brazilian carnival percussion with us! Samba is a joyful, communal expression in rhythm and song. We are a class at the Vermont Jazz Center, now entering our tenth year. You can learn samba’s intricate and exciting rhythms as part of a seasoned and supportive group. It’s parade music, so the more people the better! We provide the instruments. We welcome beginners, whether you have experience with percussion or not. More important are your ears, feel, and willingness to practice and learn.

Sambaganza meets every other Sunday, 11:00 – 12:30. The fall session begins September 6, runs for ten meetings, and costs $250. Scholarships and work-study are available.

Co-teaching the class are Ron Kelly, Music Director emeritus at Leland & Gray, and Julian Gerstin, percussionist and composer.
