The Vermont Jazz Center is excited to present a live stream concert with pianist Emmet Cohen, his working trio and special guest guitarist, Mark Whitfield. Emmet Cohen is a young, award-winning pianist (2019 American Pianists Awards, 2020 Cole Porter Fellow, first place winner of 2014 American Jazz Pianists Competition and 2011 Phillips Piano Competition, 2011 Thelonious Monk International Piano Competition finalist). Mark Whitfield’s guitar playing is influenced by his years with organists Jimmy Smith and Brother Jack McDuff; he has appeared on over 200 recordings as a sideman and released 12 as a leader. A concert with Cohen and Whitfield promises to be swinging, funky and soulful, with reverence for the tradition and an eye towards the future.
We will be Live streaming to our website and on the VJC facebook page.
In past years, our concerts happen “live” and in person and are valued at $40 per ticket. This year, with live streaming, we are relying on donations to offset costs. Please give generously and support live music.
