2024 Season Safety Protocols

Dear Friends and Students of the Vermont Jazz Center,

We have and put together this list of guidelines after consulting CDC and Vermont state health guidelines. We have also discussed this in detail with local health professionals and gone over statistics with other area arts and culture organizations

We hope you will honor them and join us safely.

CONCERTS

  • On February 16, 2023, the VJC board of directors voted to lift the requirement for attendees of VJC concerts and educational activities to wear protective masks. Mask-wearing is now optional. We will continually revisit this as infection rates, variants, and public health guidance change as part of the new normal.
  • Our board referred to a February 16th article by Dr. Leona Wen, professor of health policy and management at George Washington University, in the Washington Post: “The science hasn’t changed: Well-fitting N95, KN95 or KF94 masks protect their wearers against covid and other respiratory diseases…[people] who are elderly, immunocompromised or otherwise want to avoid covid should continue wearing them in indoor crowded spaces.”
  • If you have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid-19, get a negative test result before attending.
    • If you have paid for a ticket in advance and become exposed, we will refund you in full
  •  If you are sick, do not attend (again, refunds granted upon request)
  • Moving forward, food will be available to attendees and artists. We continue to recommend that you carry a water bottle to reduce plastic consumption. We will have spring water available for refills.

CLASSES, WORKSHOPS AND JAM SESSIONS

  •  Masks will be optional in classes and jam sessions.
  •  If you have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid-19, get a negative test result before attending
  •  If you are sick, do not attend

We will try to be flexible and ask you to do the same. Please contact us at eugene@vtjazz.org with any questions or concerns.

Stay inspired and healthy,
Julian Gerstin, VJC Board President
